Melissa Gilbert suffers concussion, whiplash

Melissa Gilbert left Dancing With the Stars before the end of Monday's performance show "as a precaution," said host Tom Bergeron.

There was no obvious incident during her dance with pro partner Maks Chmerkovskiy, an aggressive paso doble that earned her middle-of-the-pack marks. Judge Carrie Ann Inaba said it was her "best performance by far."

So what happened? Although Bergeron promised an update on tonight's results show, Gilbert tweeted the news in the wee hours of the night:

"I'm alright. Mild concussion and whiplash. Very soon I will be safely home resting and being taken care of."

Tweeted Maks:
